cinemascoped-deactivated2019012 asked: hey peyton, i know htis may be a loaded question but, as a gay/nonbinary person. what does this mean for the lgbtq community in the us?? i know im so sorry asking you this as an american to a canadian but im literally so petrified that i dont know what to think. i think im asking u because ive learned so much from oyu over the years. im sorry again

mike pence will become vice president. mike pence, the governor of indiana, who signed the religious freedom restoration act, allowing individuals and businesses to discriminate against lgbtq people with legal impunity. who shuttered planned parenthoods throughout the state and stood idly by as an hiv epidemic exploded on his watch. who openly, unabashedly, advocates for the torture of children via conversion therapy. donald trump has indicated that his vice president will be in charge of domestic and foreign policy, so this radically homophobic and transphobic policy agenda will be officially mandated at the highest level.

also, supreme court vacancies. one now. potentially more. it seems unlikely to me that key decisions on marriage equality and adoption will be fully reversed, but i wouldn’t be surprised if those liberties began to narrow. advocates for workplace equality and trans rights hoping to use the court as an avenue to advance more progressive policy will find themselves at a standstill.

i mean, what more is there to say? fuck.

the only thing providing me any comfort right now is the knowledge that we stand in a long, long line of brave and proud resistance, and the people who came before us endured brutal hardship and indignity to carve out a place for future generations they would never meet. and that legacy - sylvia rivera and marsha p. johnson rising up and throwing bricks at stonewall, harvey milk giving us our first gossamer wisp of formal political representation and then paying for it with his life, the communities who rallied together and fought the spectre of HIV/AIDS while reagan laughed at our dead - that is what we are made of, that is who we are, and no fucking fascist can ever take that away from us.

apparently Morphe is just private labeled Crown products

Morphe, BH Cosmetics, Coastal Scents etc

and it’s cheaper to just buy from crown & they have mirrors w their palettes

it’s only cheaper by cents but you get the mirror and free lil brushes

Honestly I don’t understand why every YouTuber raves about morphe when their products are mediocre at best. I mean yes it’s a good price, but you might as well invest on a brand that’s pricier but will ultimately deliver a better product and performance. The best they’ve got, in terms of brushes is their elite collection, and gun metal collection but tbh those themselves are either hit or miss. (I’m not even going to comment on their makeup palettes) … ANYWAY If anyone is looking to invest in morphe I recommend watching this video before you spend your money :) [ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PAP6GdyI1B8 ]

I like what Bernie has to say, but the fact that he’s a socialist is a deal breaker.

He is a Democratic Socialist like Franklin Roosevelt. NOT a Marxist/Communist socialist. He supports redistribution of wealth and government-funded social programs (such as Social Security). And that is what a democratic socialist is. He has never called himself a socialist without saying the word Democratic in front of it.

Socialism is socialism no matter what you put in front of it. It’s basically a few elite people living large and in charge while everyone else lives in squalor and works themselves half to death.

The redistribution part is a little going to the people, and a lot going to the people in power.

Imagine socialism/communism/fascism as a school. Let’s say you work your ass off to get an A on a project that took you forever and a kid in your class didn’t do much and got a D. Your teacher says “hey *your name* I’m gonna give this kid that got a D half of your points so that he can pass this class, even though he didn’t really put any effort into it.” That would make you mad right? That’s how socialism works.

Wait, no. I don’t think you truly understand what Sanders stands for? Or democratic socialism for that matter, because for one socialism and democratic socialism are NOT the same thing. He uses the term “democratic socialist” to signify that he wants to see fundamental change that works /for/ the people. The basic belief behind democratic socialism is this: a government and economy that will work FOR the people, not just the wealthy. Sanders believes that the largest group of people, the ones that produce America’s wealth, aka the middle class and working families deserve an income that allows them a decent standard of living– people work their ass off (full time 40 or so hours) and STILL LIVE IN POVERTY.

Your example honestly just contradicts what you previously wrote, and again I think that’s because you don’t understand democratic socialism. Like amberstarlight said, look at FDR, look at the new deal. That’s democratic socialism, it’s the creation of programs, of jobs to help working families better themselves. Yes the wealthy are taxed and yes that money goes into these “socialist” programs. But why is that such an issue? Because people are misinformed, it’s not taxation of the wealth simply to serve the working class, no it’s enforcing the tax laws and not giving the wealthy/ large corporations the tax breaks they’ve grown so accustomed to. Following your analogy, would that make me mad? Of course, anyone would be mad if things were taken from them unfairly, but tbh your analogy and the discussion at hand have no correlation. It’s not like the working class doesn’t work, they do, they work so much for so little and yet they STILL pay their taxes where as some major corporations have paid nothing in federal income tax in the past years, not to mention that well connected individuals have so many opportunities at loopholes (offshore subsidiaries) that they end up paying nothing in federal income tax at all as well.

Honestly Google is so helpful to get you informed, don’t just write off a candidate because you hear something you don’t understand. Research their platform, their values and THEN form an opinion.

This should be required viewing. The passion in this man’s voice is very clear, as is the passion that fuels Bernie Sanders and his campaign. When you’re talking about a candidate who is, and has been, in it for the long haul when it comes to helping others, fighting for human and civil rights, and who has a history of making the morally right decisions then you don’t need to look further than Bernie Sanders. Killer Mike hit the nail on the head here.
